About Us
I am honored to have been named Illinois Chief Equity Officer and to have the opportunity to continue the work of leading the State's efforts to ensure that Illinois is a leader in equity and inclusion.
Governor JB Pritzker signed Executive Order 2021-16, which established the Office of Equity within the Office of the Governor. The office provides expertise and guidance on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) to state agencies, leaders, stakeholders, and community partners.
In my role as Chief Equity Office, I collaborate with state agencies to identify and dismantle systemic barriers. I promote equity by creating a culture that fosters fair and just opportunities for all. I prioritize transformational equity work that goes beyond mere performative gestures and instead focus on building capacity and promoting the development of an equity lens.
I am excited to join this team and make equitable change across Illinois. We are striving to be a leader in the country by building a statewide strategy for advancing diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible state services, systems, policies, and operations. We have joined with partners within and beyond state government from across the state to ensure Illinois is a state free of social inequities with a healthy and thriving population.
Our office is proud to be at the helm of advancing equity within the Office of the Governor. However, it will take all of us working on multiple levels to redress centuries of structural and institutional oppression experienced by so many in marginalized communities across our state.

Our Office
The Office of Equity is building a statewide strategy for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) in our services, systems, and operations. This is a collaborative effort between the Office of the Governor’s Equity Office with other state agencies, commissions and boards and all other sectors and partners across our great state. One of the essential roles of the Office of Equity is to provide vision, direction, guidance, and support to DEIA initiatives. We are stiving to make Illinois a state free of social inequity with a healthy and thriving population who have access to high quality services delivered by diverse, inclusive, and equity-oriented state government, systems, and agencies.
